Children and Youth Centre-Shatila (CYC) Children and Youth Center (CYC) provides space for the children and youth of Shatila (Chatila) refugee camp, to develop their potential. The centre was established in 1997. The CYC works only in Shatila Refugee Camp in Beirut. The centre offers educational and recreational activities for children between the ages of 6 and 18. CYC works with the community, especially with the children’s family and their teachers. The recognition of the rights of child is an integral part of CYC´s community involvement. Ghassan Kanafani Cultural Foundation (GKCF) GKCF was founded and registered in 1974. GKCF has established kindergartens in six locations, two rehabilitation centres for children with disabilities to develop their educational potential and social skills (est. 1999), and has opened three public libraries and art centres (est. 1996, 2000, 2004,) that provide art and other creative educational activities. The project locations are Rashidiye, Ein el-Hilweh, Bourj al-Barajeneh, Mar Elias, Bedawi, and Nahr el-Bared. The GKCF activities work to integrate children with special needs. Nabaa – Developmental action without borders (Nabaa) Nabaa was founded in July2001 and registered in 2004. Nabaa works in four refugee camps (Rashidiye, Buss, Ein el-Hilweh, and Nahr el-Bared) and has its head office is in Saida. Nabaa works with children and parents in partnership with the local community, and volunteers. The NGO pursues a holistic approach to insure children’s right to learning and education. The National Association for Vocational Training and Social Services (NAVTSS) A local, politically and religiously unaffiliated non-governmental organization, was established in 1983. It is registered No. 18/AD as a NGO. NAVTSS specializes in vocational training for youth from 15 to 25 and works mainly with Palestinians resident in Lebanon in its centers in five locations (Beirut (HQ), Mar Elias (administration), Buss, Ein El Helweh, Burj El Barajneh, Nahr El Barid). NAVTSS extended in 2004 its program by non-formal activities their cultural centres which are associated to their VT centers in order to offer students and their peers additional activities to encourage and reinforce youth participation in community matters. Women's Humanitarian Organization (WHO) Was founded in Bourj Al Barajneh in February 1993 and registered in October 1996 under the number 161/ AD. It WHO provides a range of services to Palestinian women, children and youth focusing on education, raising awareness about social issues and health programmes. Their activities include a nursery, a preschool educational programme for children under 6 years old and after school club with different specialized activities for girls, youth which drop out from School and a community out reach activities in Burj al-Barajneh (Beirut area). The Training Centre for Community Development (TCCD) The Training Centre for Community Development is a registered NGO based in Saida, but with a program running also in Yemen. TCCD has been working since 2002 on the Ambassadors of Peace Program a program establishing peaceful based conflict resolution in schools and in the community. TCCD works on a psycho-educational program originally conceived in Canada but adapted to the Lebanese experience, and trains teachers, children and parents on this method. The Lebanese Council to Resist Violence Against Women (LECORVAW) The LECORVAW was found in Beirut in 1997 in response to the alarming rate of violent acts against women in Lebanon.
